I used just one photo — a view from my window. The concept was simple sentence: “I'm listening the music while I’m looking through my window outside." The view is changing inside myself according to the music I am listening. Whole project was mainly about experimentation and putting myself outside of my comfortable zone. Experimentations with photos was done physically (scanner, glue, scissors, duck tape, thinner, etc...) also in digitally (computer).
The goal was to create final pictures different enough to be able stay by them self but enough similar to create united collection. All final images are used inside magazine to represent different mood. I’ve gave magazine big, generous format to correctly show images.
The reader can found reactions of deaf people to each image inside of the magazine. The collaboration with deaf people was also a big part of this project. It would not be as strong as without their opinions to the specific mood. Deaf people recognize types of music and some of them prefer different ones.
I did not want to create only visually appealing magazine. I wanted to give a deeper meaning and deaf people help me with it. Thanks to their opponents I was able to move conceptual part of this project to the right position.
Right now, I’m discussing possibilities of production with independent Prague publishers.
